At Hello Garage, building strong foundations isn’t just something we say — it’s something our team lives every day, both inside and outside of the garage. One incredible example is Chad Abel, owner of Hello Garage of Cincinnati and a longtime firefighter, who is celebrating a milestone this May: his 27th year volunteering as a counselor at Hoosier Burn Camp.
For more than two decades, Chad has dedicated a week each year to working with young burn survivors from across Indiana, providing mentorship, encouragement, and unforgettable experiences. Hoosier Burn Camp offers a traditional summer camp experience for children who have endured serious burn injuries, giving them a safe space to build confidence, resilience, and friendships that last a lifetime.

Chad’s commitment to the camp is deeply personal. As a firefighter, he has seen firsthand the strength it takes for young survivors to recover and rebuild. As a counselor, he’s there to support them through every high and low, sharing in their victories and offering strength through their challenges.
“The work we do at Hoosier Burn Camp reminds me that building resilience is just as important as building anything else,” Chad shared. “Whether it’s helping a camper rediscover their confidence or helping a homeowner fall back in love with their garage, it all comes down to creating spaces and lives where people can thrive.”

Chad’s dedication is a reflection of the culture and values we’re proud to foster at Hello Garage- One team, humble heart, hungry spirit, people smart. His example reminds us that sometimes the most important things we build aren’t garages. They’re stronger communities, deeper connections, and lasting impact.
